Rich Lanza
(CPA, CFE), president of Audit Software Professionals, has a decade and a half of experience in the audit and assurance technology field and has become one of its leading authorities. Rich helps companies save millions (in their respective currency) each year using his technology tools. 

Based on his years in the trenches at several Fortune 500 firms, CPA firms, and medium-sized businesses, Rich brings personalized coaching expertise in automating report systems enabling organizations to generate cash recoveries, stop profit leaks, resolve control issues, and implement process improvements.

He is a frequent and popular speaker at industry events such as the conferences and seminars of Institute of Internal Auditors and a prolific writer. A columnist for many professional journals, author of 13 publications, and co-author of The Buyer’s Guide to Audit Software, the first comprehensive look at this exploding market. Rich is an ACL software expert, as well as, an ActiveData for Excel expert, and highly proficient in using Microsoft Excel and Access in  engagements.

From a volunteer perspective, Rich is commitee member of the NYSSCPA Technology Assurance Committee and the IIA's Board of Research and Education Advisors, as well as, serves as President of the North Jersey IIA Chapter.

A graduate of PACE University, he is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Association of certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), and the Project Management Institute (PMI®). Rich was recently awarded the prestigious Outstanding Achievement in Commerce Award from the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.

Michelle Shein, a highly-skilled developer and instructor with over twenty years of experience, has a client list that reads like a veritable Who’s Who of business. She has provided training and development to firms such as: Morgan Stanley, Merrill Lynch, AICPA, Chubb, Kraft, Nabisco, Comcast, Toys R Us, AIG, AT&T, Bank of New York, Johnson & Johnson, Ciba Gigy, Sandoz, and more. A specialist in the utilization of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access she develops custom applications for client data storage and analysis needs. Ms. Shein is the co-author of several CPE courses including Fraud Detection and Cash Recovery Using ActiveData for Excel, and Using Microsoft Access to Audit Payables for Fraud, available through the AuditSoftware.Net Bookstore.

Dean Brooks is president of Ekaros Analytical Inc., publishers of books on audit and data analysis. He is co-author with Rich Lanza and Mort Goldman of the 2005 Buyer's Guide for Audit, Anti-Fraud and Assurance Software and has lectured extensively around the U.S. and Canada on topics including Benford's Law and "How to Succeed at Audit Data Analysis." Mr. Brooks fills out the Audit Software Professionals team roster on data analysis and audit software issues. He is the editor of numerous publications including the Payables Test Set series, Fraud Detection and the Fraud Toolkit, Digital Analysis Using Benford's Law, and Fraud Investigation Using IDEA. He is the former editor of Take Command!, the quarterly newsletter for ACL users.

Scott Gilbert, a former manager within Ernst and Young's Technology and Security Risk Services group, has spent the past 4 years working as an independent consultant providing business advisory/technology risk services, data analysis, data management, litigation support, project management, and internal audit assistance to fortune 500 companies within the financial services (including Banking, Broker/Dealer, Mutual Funds and Insurance), retail, and manufacturing in the New York Metro area. Scott uses his 15 years of extensive business and data analysis experience to help clients solve business problems that involve complex data issues using various software tools. Some of these tools include SAS, ACL, IDEA, ActiveData, Access, Excel, SQL, and Visual Basic. He is an analytic professional with proven track record of problem solving, strong communication skills, team building, service delivery, and operational excellence. Scott is currently pursuing his Certified Fraud Examiner ("CFE") designation and his Project Management Professional ("PMP") certification. Scott holds a bachelors degree in Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame.
