Use Audit Software Instead of My System's Report Writer?

Audit
software provides many unique benefits over standard report writers as
audit software:

independent of the system being run and will use a read-only
copy of the file to avoid any corruption of the data

one tool to use across multiple data sets, since most system report
writers are only developed for the system at hand. For example,
a business intelligence solution for supplier management will not be
able to transfer itself easily to analyze inventory trends.
